How to get unaddicted to chapstick?

I use it every 30 minutes. Carmax, eos, blistex, Burt's bees, vaseline/petroleum jelly, anything. I tried going without it today and my lips are cracked and dry and red. How can I get unaddicted? And how many days until my lips start producing their own natural oils again?
